Privacy policy

What we collect

When you send a booking request, we collect:

• your name, phone number and (if you give it) email address
• your suburb and street address
• the machines you want serviced, make and model, the kind of job and any problem you describe
• any photos you upload
• your preferred days
• how you found us, if you arrived from one of our links (for example a Facebook post or a flyer)

To stop spam, we also keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address for up to 24 hours. We can't turn it back into your actual address.

Why we collect it

We use your details only to arrange and do the job: to contact you, confirm a day, find your place, bring the right parts, invoice you, and, after the job, send you a link to leave a review. We look at the “how you found us” information in total to see which advertising works. We don't sell your details or share them with anyone for marketing.

Where it's stored

Booking details and photos are stored with Supabase, a database provider, on servers in Sydney, Australia. Booking notifications are sent to us by email. Our website is hosted by Netlify. Invoices are created in our accounting software, Hnry. Each of these providers protects data with safeguards comparable to the New Zealand Privacy Act.

Only the owner of Spark & Spanner can sign in to see booking details. Photos are stored privately and aren't publicly viewable.

How long we keep it

• Booking details: up to 2 years after your last job, then deleted.
• Photos: up to 12 months after the job, then deleted.
• Invoices: kept for 7 years, because New Zealand tax law requires it. These are held in our accounting software, not on this website.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your details

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them. Email sales@sparkandspanner.co.nz or call 021 084 24417. We'll respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act requires. We may need to check who you are first.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Cookies

If you arrive from one of our links, we set a small cookie that remembers which link it was, so we can record it with your booking. It expires after 30 days. The admin area uses a sign-in cookie for the owner only. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
